11th STILLWATER BLUES FESTIVAL 4X4 –Four Days For Music in September!

Stillwater Blues Festival Schedule - now available

Plan to attend Oklahoma’s largest free music festival September 11 – 14, 2008. The 11th Annual Stillwater Blues Fest 4x4 is four days for music and fun. At the corner of 8th Avenue and Duck Street by downtown Stillwater, Oklahoma, the festival will feature not only blues, but rock, jazz, gospel and red dirt music.

Headliners this year include San Antonio native and guitarist Chris Duarte whose latest CD is “Blue Velocity”; vocalist Janiva Magness, the 2008 Nominee for Blues Music Award and B.B. King Entertainer of the Year Award; Micky & the Motorcars one of the best-drawing bands on the lucrative Texas Music circuit; and Garrett "Big G" Jacobson, an Oklahoma native known for his unique blend of blues, soul and jazz and his dynamic showmanship.

Gloria Short, City of Stillwater Community Center festival coordinator, says, “Bring your lawn chairs and some sunscreen. Every year people come from around the U.S. to Stillwater because they know we put on a great show. Because of continued support from our outstanding sponsors, the Stillwater Blues Fest is one of the biggest and best free musical festivals in the area. Plan to enjoy music, festival food, beer and free parking.'

The Stillwater Blues Fest will kick off this year with the Sister Cities International’s September Concert, an event presented by the Stillwater Sister Cities Council. This one-hour concert is part of a series of free musical performances held in cities around the world on September 11th to promote cultural understanding.

Open to the public, the September Concert will start at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 11, at the City of Stillwater Community Center (8th Avenue and Duck Street). In addition to a the sing-a-long of The Beatles' “Let It Be” with the students in the “Blues In The School” program, there will be performances by Stillwater Jazz.

Following the September Concert the Stillwater Blues Festival will launch its College Night theme when various known bands will play until 11 p.m.

The Stillwater Blues Fest is sponsored in part by the Oklahoma Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, City of Stillwater, Stillwater Community Center Foundation, Stillwater Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, AT&T and Blues Festival Guide.
